The album includes rare and exclusive songs from some of the most compelling artists in the indie and alternative worlds: Black Moth Super Rainbow, The Decemberists, Devendra Banhart, Diplo, Federico Aubele, Gnarls Barkley, LCD Soundsystem, My Morning Jacket, Matthew Dear, Mum, Neon Neon, Richard Swift, RJD2, and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, as well as a contribution from Adult Swim’s Tim & Eric.
“It’s easy for fatigue to set in when a crisis goes on for a number of years, but no one has given up hope that things can change for the better in Darfur” says Waxploitation founder Jeff Antebi, who executive produced the album. “There are untold numbers of people committed to changing the outcome. It takes humanitarian assistance, tenacity and political will.”

I'm puzzled by the lack of promotion that has been given to this album. For about a year and a half now, I've been searching for the song "Por Ti (Libertad)" ever since I bumped into the following video:
I haven't been able to stop listening to this album since November!! Especially Giramundo, Cabra de Peste, Para de Beber, Carreteiro, & Contragolpe.
January 16, 2009, 7PM Highline Ballroom, NYC Special Guests: DJ Nickodemus & the Pimps of Joytime

This album contains two previously unreleased tracks (La Llamada & Fantasmas), GREAT acoustic versions of some of his joints, AND a bonus recipe for Argentinean empanadas...what a package deal!!
Today's a big day in the world of REALmusick! Buena Vista Social Club has released a live version of one of my all time favorite albums. To make things even better it's a double CD!! The live album was recorded in Carnegie Hall, NY on July 1st, 1998...what I would pay for a time machine and a seat at that concert right now...but until time machines become a reality I will settle for this album to take me there each time I press play...If you don't know about Buena Vista Social Club, I would strongly suggest you get the DVD which does a great job of introducing the group to the world with some great footage. It also shows some clips from their trip to the United States and their performance at Carnegie Hall.

released today, August 5, 2008...I have to say the first couple of times I was like, ehhh, maybe, maybe not...but I do like the way they redid Sweet Dreams...and a couple of the other tracks are cool...
updated on August 7th: I had to listen to it a couple of times before it became like crack to me...now I can't stop listening to it!! I mean I love the last two albums so I knew I had to give it a chance...I'm glad I did because now the whole album is great to me...it is a bit experimental and I love how they performed the songs at the concert...

This is a great album. The underlying bass on some of these tracks is pretty intense & amazing, hence the name of the album, The Art of Vibration. The hip hop influence is pretty evident. I definitely have to give him props for sampling one of my favorite salsa songs, Rebelion by Joe Arroyo. The whole album is good to me, but haven't been able to stop listening to Feet Keep Moving (below).
I was fortunate enough to have received this album back in March from Natalia. This is the type of album that the world needs: no forward necessary. Every song on this CD is amazing. This should be in everyone's music collection.
