Sha Stimuli - My Soul to Keep

PRE-ORDER LINK

Sha Stimuli is a Brooklyn native who can arguably be said to be the next rapper from New York, period. Originally signed to Virgin Records Sha was poised to release his debut album but due the usual major label politics Sha opted to control his destiny. Over the last 3 years he has released a series of mixtapes that have hundreds of thousands of downloads. Platinum Producer Just Blaze, DJ KaySlay (Hot 97) and DJ Enuff (Hot 97) DJ Tores 718 have co-signed the Sha Stimuli movement. Sha has recently leaked a track entitled "Follow The Leader" addressing Autotune and those who blindly follow the latest trends rather than innovate. Whether it be Hot 97 or allhiphop. com it's hard to escape Sha Stimuli's rising presence in hip hop.

TRANXGO DVD

As a big fan of Gotan Project, Bajofondo, Tanghetto, Tango Conspiracy (Jimena Fama) & Tranxgo for sooo many years I'm definitely enjoy the whole electrotango movement...with sooooo many groups making this type of music now it's basically it's own musical genre nowadays. I'm happy to get the announcement from the heads at Tranxgo that they are dropping a one hour DVD with footage from live performances, more specifically in Crobar Buenos Aires, Argentina. Tranxgo is a bit more house-ish, trancy type of electrotango, hence the name, but I think they are great and are seriously getting a following out there. Here are two 10 minute clips for you to enjoy and get a little feel of what's to come.

R.I.P. Mercedes Sosa

Argentine folk singer Mercedes Sosa, the "voice of Latin America" whose music inspired opponents of South America's brutal military regimes and led to her forced exile in Europe, died Sunday, her family said. She was 74.

Sosa was best known for signature tunes such as "Gracias a la Vida" ("Thanks to Life") and "Si se calla el cantor" ("If the Singer Quiets"). She had been in the hospital for more than two weeks with liver problems and had since been suffering from progressive kidney failure and cardiac arrest. via

R.I.P. Mr. Magic

Photobucket

Another important figure in the world of hip hop has been lost today due to a heart attack...this year is really starting to be a bad one...DJ AM, Roc Raida, and now Mr. Magic...

An important figure in the world of hip-hop radio, Mr. Magic debuted in 1983 on WBLS-FM in New York City with the first exclusive rap radio show to be aired on a major station. Billing itself as Rap Attack, Magic's show featured Marley Marl as the DJ and Tyrone "Fly Ty" Williams as the show's co-producer. Magic's reign on the New york City airwaves lasted over 20 years and was instrumental in broadening the scope and validity of hip-hop music.

Magic also spent time as a producer, working on the Force MD's "Let Me Love You" and "Forgive Me Girl," as well as releasing a series of compilation albums from his radio show titled Mr. Magic's Rap Attack. Nearly 20 years after his radio debut, Mr. Magic made the transition to the digital realm and helmed Wildstyle, the rap channel for the new millennium's hottest video game, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

His early contributions to hip hop, both as a producer and performer, were documented by the Stones Throw label in 1994 on the collection Third Unheard: Connecticut Hip Hop 1979-1983. ~ Steve Kurutz, All Music Guide (myspace)
