Fat Beats closing down for good

dammmm, this is tough for me and for many other people out in the REAL world of hip hop, or REALmusic in general...I will always remember the experiences I've had as a young buck and a grown up when going to Fat Beats...the cool people in there and all the good stuff they sold, not to mention the Records of course...this is what this world is coming to...all these cornball DJs using only MP3s and Serato, everyone is downloading music for free nowadays...I must say most of us have done the same at some point...but I still buy music albums as soon as they drop...I actually prefer to have the actual CD and the covers but not everyone feels the same...I really hate to say this but Fat Beats will be closing verrrrrry soon...

updated August 27: A special Fat Beats Tribute will be going down on August 31st @FATBEATS NYC
a final performance by DJ ROB SWIFT on Thursday, September 2, 2010:

Due to the unfortunate news of the closing of NYC’s FAT BEATS record store (406 6th Ave. and 8th St.) Rob Swift will be making his final in store appearance to promote the release of his new EP, SKETCHES OF THE ARCHITECT, 6pm sharp on September 2nd. Special guest include, Breez Evahflowin and The Buck 50 Kutters. According to Rob Swift, “It will be my way of saying adios to a place that put me and my crew, The X-men, on the map!” For you true Hip Hop fans, this is gonna be a special in store so don’t miss out. Rob adds, “I plan on performing my heart out one last time and pay respect to what for me, was the home base for Hip Hop DJs worldwide. Please come through and say farewell with us!”
