LAMC ANNOUNCES 2012 "ARTIST DISCOVERY" WINNER CARLA MORRISON

Celebrating its 13th anniversary, the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) is excited to announce that the 2012 "Artist Discovery" winner is Carla Morrison from Mexico.
Carla Morrison was presented with the award last night at the Gramercy Theatre during the LAMC showcase, where she performed with buzz acts like Adrianigual, La Vida Boheme, Jot Dog, Psycho Realm, and Javiera Mena.

Previous LAMC "Artist Discovery" winners include Pacha Massive, Kinky and Los Rakas, providing a springboard into establishing careers. Referred to as the "Sundance of Latin music", the LAMC serves as a continuous indicator of what is up and coming.

"It's such a nice surprise and an honor to be named LAMC's Discovery Award winner," said Carla Morrison. "It is amazing to be recognized for the hard work that myself and my team have done over the last few years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and thanks to everyone who has been paying attention."

After Carla Morrison was nominated for a Latin GRAMMY for her album 'Mientras Tu Dormias', produced by fellow Mexicana and singer/songwriter Natalia Lafourcade,  the songstress returned to her beloved hometown of Tecate, Baja California where she recorded her new album 'Dejenme Llorar', her most personal record to date.  Morrison continues to conquer audiences playing major venues and festivals in Mexico, and is breaking ground in the U.S. with her unique sweet, yet soulful, voice and heartfelt lyrics.

As part of her win, Carla Morrison receives a prize package including a high-end Shure microphone and in-ear system, an Epiphone guitar, a CD manufacturing deal with the ADS Group and additional prizes from Seymour Duncan, PreSonus, Miktek and Cleartone. Additional support for the LAMC Discovery program was also provided by Gallien Krueger and Artist Relations.

Made possible by Absolut, the 13th LAMC had yet another exciting year. With past conferences averaging more than 1,250 attendees and 25,000 concert fans, the conference provides networking opportunities with the genre’s leading artists, entrepreneurs, journalists, marketers, managers and programmers, in addition to the LAMC concerts and showcases.
