I won't make it Kingston, but I wouldn't have minded seeing them perform some of these classics (Juke Box Hero, I Want to Know What Love Is, and of course Cold as Ice)! so many more...
Seven years later...Grant Marshall and Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack), who paved the way for trip hop as a genre, are back with their fifth album, Heligoland. Featuring Horace Andy and a an impressive line-up of great musical talent including Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz), Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star), Martina Topley-Bird (known for her work with Tricky), Guy Garvey (Elbow) and Portishead's Adrian Utley on guitars. Tim Goldsworthy and Neil Davidge co-produced the album with the duo. I really hope to not have to wait seven more years for their next album, but I understand it takes time to come up with music of this caliber... via NPR

Teddy Pendergrass passed away today after an 8 month struggle with colon cancer. Pendergrass crashed his Rolls-Royce in Philadelphia in 1982 and was left paralyzed from the waist down. damn, this year is already off to a bad start...first Lhasa, now Sandro. Sandro has to be one the all time best singers, period! To me he was like the spanish NAS.
He was the first Latin singer to fill Madison Square Garden in New York, and the first to broadcast a concert live via satellite, in 1970. updated Jan. 5, 2009
Roberto Sánchez (August 19, 1945 – January 4, 2010), better known by his artist names Sandro/Sandro de América ("Sandro of America" in Spanish) or Gitano (gypsy), was an Argentine singer and actor. On November 20, 2009, Sandro received a double transplant (heart and lungs) in Mendoza, Argentina. 5 days later, Argentine TV (Cronica TV) reported Sandro was breathing without a respirator. On 4 January 2010, after 45 days of receiving a double cardio-pulmonary transplant, and after many complications, he died of septic shock, mesenteric ischemia and disseminated intravascular coagulation in the Hospital Italiano of Mendoza. Latin America media commented almost immediately on his death. wikipedia

When I got the news, I had to take a deep breath...I mean I knew she was struggling with breast cancer, but I just wasn't expecting the higher forces to take her so soon from us. I was aware that things were getting worse because she ended up having to cancel her 2009 tour. She past away on January 1, 2010 right before midnight, basically just hours into the new decade.
